PW was very cooperative, and intelligent. Answered questions freely, military information was limited because of short period in service. Information obtained here-in is considered fairly reliable.
Length of service: 2 months
Physical condition: Fair

MILITARY HISTORY:
On 10 Jul 1950 PW was sent from school to TASONGSUN () 18km E of PYONG YANG. They were told that they were on an air raid shelter construction detail.
11 Jul 1950 PW was inducted in the Army with approx 1,000 others, forming the new 506th Arty Regt at TASONG SUN. The rest of the month was spent in training. PW received radio communication training approx 6 hours daily during the period.
On 28 Aug 1950 the regt moved to a maneuver area.
8 Sep 1950 the regt with 1,00 men and equipment arrived at SEOUL.
There the regt became the 22m Replacement Arty Regt of the 18th Div. (18th Div - hearsay)
Movement from PYONG YANG was made at night by rail. The train remained hidden in tunnels during the day. Air attacks were experienced on several occasions, but damage was slight.
14 Sep 1950 5th Co of the 2nd Bn was ordered to INCHON.
16 Sep 1950 received battle order.
16 Sep 1950 to 26 Sep 1950 made several contacts with UN troops, and retreated each time. Strength of the regt was reduced to about 250. PW was captured by members of the ROK unit, wile retreating to I JONG BU.

EQUIPMENT:
One truck per company, approx 10 trucks (Russian) to the regt. The regt had only 3 (122mm) howitzers and 10 (76mm) field guns.
Upon arriving at SEOUL each man in the regt had MO1 US type rifles. Three were later exchanged for 7.62mm type carbines. Each man had approx 100 rds of ammunition.
The M-1 rifles were buried in an air raid shelter at the SEOUL Christian College (SHIN CHON University). PW was personally on the detail.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The former 506th Arty Regimental Commander Col LEE, HO SUP who on 28 Aug 1950 became executive officer of an unkn Division was know to have had Japanese university education and received Japanese military training. He deserted from a Japanese unit mile stationed in Northern China.
