ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative. Information extremely limited. He was in the 13th Div only 4 days before surrendering and was bewildered by everything he observed.

PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted on 15 Aug 50 at WONJU. Received no training or equipment other than an NKPA uniform.
Departed from WONJU with approx 2,000 other South Korean conscripts o/a 28 Aug 50. Arrived SONSAN 9 Sep 50.
Departed from SONSAN o/a 9 Sep 50, marched and joined 13th Div on an unidentified mountain approx 18 km N of TAEGU o/a 10 Sep 50.
Having been shelled by arty and bombed and strafed by aircraft PW surrendered to attacking personnel of the US 8th Cav Regt, 141600 K Sep 50, with 10 other S Korean-conscriptees of the NKPA.

REPLACEMENTS:
PW was one of approx 2,000 S Korean conscriptees from WONJU for the 13th Div, who arrived o/a 10 Sep 50, at a mountain about 18 km N of TAEGU. None of the replacements had received any training, and they were not issued weapons until they joined the 13th Div. None seemed enthusiastic about being forced into "volunteering" for the NKPA. 25 of the 2,000 men were assigned to the 19th Regt as litter-bearers.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Picked up and read Safe Conduct Pass o/a 9 Sep 50 at SONSAN. Did not keep the Pass because NKPA officers forbid EM to even read UN leaflets.
PW observed approx 20 ROK PsW at UISONG o/a 5 Sep 50 and was told that they would be interned in a PW camp at SEOUL.
