Military History:

Training - 10 Jul - 15 Jul 50, NANAM (羅南) as member 14 Regt. Training received included squad tactics in mountain warfare.
Tactical Movements:
19 Jul 50 - 900 men of the 14th Regt departed NANAM by rail.
28 Jul 50 - 900 men arrived SEOUL. Men told they were replacements for 1st Div. Subject heard Code No. was 568.
29 Jul 50 - 900 men departed SEOUL on foot without weapons.
4 Aug 50 - Arrived CH’UNGJU (忠州)
7 Aug 50 - 900 men arrived MUN’GYONG (1100-1540) (聞慶). Suffered sustained aerial attack
10 Aug 50 - 500 men arrived UISONG (1160-1490) via SANGJU. Heard 400 men were following. 500 men marched southward on highway for about 4 km - attacked by 5 aircrafts. No casualties. 11 Aug 50, 500 men resumed marched in southeasterly direction from road along trail. Met troops of 14th Regt, 1st Div at a point approx 10 km SSW of UISONG. 500 men assigned to the 3 battalion of 14th Regt. Disposition of remaining 400 men separated at MUN’GYONG, unknown. O/a 16 Aug 50 - 14th Regt proceeded SW from above location to a point 20 km SE where the 3rd Bn fought its first engagement since 10 Aug 50. Subject observed 5 killed and 7 wounded. Details of other battalions unknown. However, other battalions were in area.
21 Aug 50 - (Subject hazy as to movements of battalion or regiments between 16-21 Aug 50.) 3rd Bn engaged enemy at T’ONGMYONG-MYON (綂營). Disposition of units unknown. No. of casualties suffered unknown. Subject became separated from his unit and was captured 22 Aug 50.

Armor:
2 x T-34/76 tanks observed at UISONG o/a 10 Aug 50. Tanks headed south without infantry. Details unknown.

Artillery:
5 x 160-mm M1943 Mortars being hauled south by GAZ-51 trucks on/about 10 Aug 50 at UISONG. No details.

Capabilities of Unit:
Morale of troops very low because of lack of food and ammunition. Morale also affected by the sudden halt in advance made by NKPA. No rumors heard about desertions.
21 Aug 50, average of 30 rounds per man. Status of ammunition supply unknown.
Troops ate average of 2 meals per day. Diet consisted of rice and vegetables. Amount depended upon quantity confiscated from civilians.
Equipment in good condition. No artillery observed with 14th Regt.
